About This Website
Recent scandals in the Catholic Church have made it difficult to be publicly recognized as a Catholic and still dedicated to the welfare of others. I recently got into an argument with a friend because I was pointing out that this isn't merely a Catholic problem and that the exclusive focus, by the media, on the Catholic church, lately, has been about scandals. Meanwhile, the Catholic Church continues to be one of the largest contributors to social justice work around the world. This, of course, is not reported.
That night, I was unable to sleep because I had such a sinking feeling in my stomach. It's not a good feeling to be accused of being guilty of something by association and that because of the actions of a profoundly small minority of a group, the rest of the group should be, likewise, painted with the same brush. As I laid awake that night, my thoughts turned to Pope Benedict XVI who has been accused of personally contributing to the problem, by the media, and who has been under watchful scrutiny for the next opportunity to pounce on any mistake he might make.
I thought to myself, “If I feel sick to my stomach because of the argument I had, how much worse must it be for Pope Benedict XVI”. I wished there was some way to let him know that he is not alone and that he has not been abandoned by people of good will. This website is the result.
My hope and prayer is that this website will gather momentum through and by people who do not feel represented by the current image of the Church in the media and want Pope Benedict to know that we stand behind him. If this represents your feelings, please pledge your love, support, and prayers for Pope Benedict XVI.
